Procedures

Cardiac procedures performed by Dr. Mansour

Catheter-based procedures for the coronary arteries, the aortic valve and the heart's rhythm, explained in plain language. Your own options are decided after a medical evaluation.

Cardiac Catheterization

A thin catheter is guided to the heart through the wrist or groin to map the coronary arteries with live X-ray imaging — the test that confirms whether, and where, a blockage exists.

May be considered

When symptoms such as chest pain or breathlessness — or an abnormal ECG, stress test or CT scan — call for a definitive look at the coronary arteries.

Angioplasty & Stenting

A tiny balloon widens the narrowed section of a coronary artery, and a stent — a small mesh tube — is left in place to keep it open, restoring blood flow to the heart muscle in the same sitting as the diagnostic catheterization.

May be considered

When catheterization shows a significant narrowing, or angina continues despite medication.

Rotational Atherectomy & Complex PCI

Some blockages are too calcified, too long-standing, or too awkwardly positioned for standard angioplasty. Techniques like rotational atherectomy, intravascular lithotripsy, and CTO crossing let Dr. Mansour Farouk El-Behwashy treat these arteries through the same wrist-access approach, often avoiding open bypass surgery.

May be considered

When a blockage is heavily calcified or long-standing (CTO), or was described elsewhere as too complex for a standard stent.

TAVI

TAVI replaces a narrowed (stenotic) aortic valve with a new, catheter-delivered valve that expands and takes over inside the old one — the modern, minimally invasive alternative to open-heart aortic valve replacement surgery.

May be considered

When an echocardiogram confirms severe narrowing of the aortic valve and valve replacement is being discussed.

Pacemaker Implantation

A pacemaker is a small, battery-powered device implanted just under the skin near the collarbone, with one to three leads placed in the heart to sense and correct a heartbeat that's too slow or irregular — restoring the energy and stamina that slow rhythms take away.

May be considered

When a slow heart rhythm or heart block, confirmed on ECG or Holter, causes fatigue, dizziness or fainting.

ICD Implantation

An ICD is a pacemaker-sized device that continuously monitors your heart rhythm and can deliver a corrective shock within seconds if it detects a dangerously fast, chaotic rhythm — the standard protection for patients at meaningful risk of sudden cardiac arrest.

May be considered

When the heart's pumping function is significantly reduced, or after a dangerous rhythm or a survived cardiac arrest.
